Does excessive hair straightening prevent hair growth?

yes i know two girls that had beautiful hair when they were young and they kept on perming it and they straightened it everyday before going to school. NOW there hair looks like crap! Its so stringy and rough. It looks dead.. and they have SO many split ends. It looks like a homeless dogs tail. Really Disgusting.....and their hair used to be silky, shiny smooth and wavy. THE REASON FOR DESTROYING THEIR HAIR: THEY DIDN'T LIKE IT BECAUSE IT WAS WAVY!! it looked so nice before.....if only they had listened to me... PLUS since last year their hair has only grown 1 inch where as before it would grow ONE INCH EVERY MONTH!Does excessive hair straightening prevent hair growth?

well..... if you want to be bald then yes. Straightening your hair all the time is not good, because you are pulling your hair and also you are damaging it by using heat.To prevent hair growth then you need to become bald.
yeah a lot of heat and it splits ur ends make sure you spray something on your hair like a heat protectant to help.
Anything excessive that you do to your hair can't be too good for it. If you want it to grow, at night braid your hair loosely. Any time you use an excessive amount of heat on your hair you are doing harm to it.

It will make your hair break off so the strands won't grow so long. It won't actually damage your hair follicles though. Make sure you give your hair a break on the days that it isn't really necessary to straighten your hair.
