Split ends really prevent hair growth?

I think it's just a myth because doesn't hair grow from the root? So why do people say Split ends in your hair prevent hair growth? Is it true?Split ends really prevent hair growth?
no it's true that it prevents hair growth. I had lots of split ends in my hair and it barely even grew. so I got a haircut and it's actually growing now! =]Split ends really prevent hair growth?
Split ends..

Okay hair grows from the root.

But you wont see any difference in grownth if its coming

from the root

and then breaking off at the ends..

u'll either end up with hair the same length( after a time period when it should have been longer)

or shorter and uneven.
It's not a Myth. When you have Split ends, The Split goes up the hair shaft, When that happens You will get breakage. Breakage stops the hair growth. Hair grows from the root, but it doesn't get longer, because the hair breaks off.
yes hair does grow from the roots, but what happens is if your ends split they travel up your hair shaft and break off causing hair not to grow as well. Getting them trimmed every 8 weeks will help.
no it doesn't my mum works in the biggest hairdressers in london can yhuu imagine how many people ask that who ever told yhuu is talkin rubbish x
No, it's not. Probably just a rumor that spread. Hair grows from the roots not ends. A simple solution: Don't listen to these lying people.
hair does grow from the root but when u get split ends the split goes up the hair shaft and u get breakage.
